A Mandatory Training program for IPU/CSU and all ED Staff designed to educate, prevent, and mitigate the risk of violence to workers in healthcare and private corporations.

Objectives

• Assess and recognize emerging escalating behavioral situation
• Verbalize strategies to avoid physical harm
• Name 3 warning signs of individuals that cause concern
• Verbalize the phases of the assault cycle
• Describe the use of proper documentation to mitigate liability risk
• Demonstrate reasonable force used to defend self or others to mitigate liability risk.
• Verbalize safety techniques used within your department/workplace
• Identify the Center for Medicaid Services requirement for use of force and self defense designed to protect patients, staff, or others from harm
